StruCalc 10.0 Pre-Order Announced! Load Tracker Included!

StruCalc 10.0 is announced. It will be available mid-July 2016. Contrary to previous discussions StruCalc will not be going to a subscription based service at this time. The prices for StruCalc 10.0 will not change from StruCalc 9.0. That’s right we are not increasing prices at all with the latest version. Even though StruCalc 10.0 will include, free of charge, unlimited use of the revolutionary design tool StruCalc Load Tracker. We have made these decisions to benefit our current users as well as potential users. These decisions were made based on discussions with current users and are in part due to the current building economy.

This is not a comprehensive list. However, these features are guaranteed to be delivered in StruCalc 10.0. Additional development will be done before/after the launch and we will definitely continue to develop and add features at no additional charge into Strucalc 10.0 just as we did with StruCalc 9.0. We will update this post as new features become available.

  • FREE! StruCalc Load Tracker will be included free of charge with every license
  • 2015 National Design Specification
  • NEW! Wall Design Module
  • NEW! Framing Module
  • NEW! StruCalc Reports (an exciting, comprehensive reporting system that will be like nothing that is available on the market)
  • Uniformly Loaded Floor Beam, Roof Beam, and Combination Roof and Floor Beam will all now have 3 Point Load inputs
  • Roof Rafter will be expanded to having 2 Spans + Overhang
  • Incisor Factor Settings for applying pressure treated settings to wood designs
  • All Modules will have Active Loading Diagrams like the Multi-Loaded Multi-Span Beam module
  • Numerous other user requested changes to interface and GUI of the program

StruCalc 10.0 Wall Design Module

$

The wall design module is a powerful new feature that will be added to StruCalc 10.0. It will replace the existing Stud Design in the Column Module. It has many new features that allow you to design wall assemblies from 1 to 3 floors in height to support vertical loads from roof and floor framing members combined with stresses from potential lateral loads of wind and seismic forces.

You will be able to calculate the vertical loads on walls using easy to use tributary widths similar to the beam modules in StruCalc.  You can also use Load Tracker to input the vertical loads from previously designed structural elements.

Once you have these vertical loads determined, StruCalc will perform the calculations necessary to determine if the wall framing will resist the combination of stresses from both vertical and lateral loads.

After the wall is designed, you will be able to use Load Tracker, which is included at no additional charge in StruCalc 10.0, to transfer these wall loads to the support elements below including beams, joists, walls  as well as continuous footings.

Here is a sneak preview of the new design module. It has an exciting new look, with an easy to use and intuitive interface, much like the existing Roof Rafter and Collar Tie design modules. The graphic and inputs are dynamic, changing depending on the number of floors you are designing. The graphic also displays inputs to visually enhance your design experience.

Click the thumbnail to view the entire design module.

Thank you and we hope you are as excited about StruCalc 10.0 as we are. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have about current development or this new module.

StruCalc 10.0 Multi-Span Roof Rafter Module

We have been hard at work here at StruCalc working on new features for StruCalc 10.0. The latest feature we would like to highlight is the improved Roof Rafter module. One of our goals with StruCalc 10.0 is to add more pre-designed options to our design modules to allow even quicker, and more user-friendly designs than are currently possible with StruCalc’s easy to use interface. The first implementation of that goal is adding three options to the existing Roof Rafter, giving a total of 4 possible designs in this module. And yes, they all work with the Load Tracker which will be a free addition to your software in StruCalc 10.0.

The Original: 1 Span + Eave

Option 2: 2 Span + Eave

Option 3: 1 Span + 2 Eaves

Option 4: 3 Spans

We hope you are as excited for the new version and features as we are. Stay tuned for more exciting updates.

StruCalc 10.0 Framing Module

The “framing settings” allows you to compile the weight of materials used in the building assemblies for the projects you design.  Rather than having to hand calculate or estimate the total load for the dead load inputs, you will be able to select from a full list of standard materials used in the building industry.  These  roof, floor and wall dead loads will be automatically put in the dead load inputs for your project.  Multiple different floor assemblies will be available should your project have those design scenarios.   There will still be a default set of standard materials available which you can customize if you wish for each project.

We apologize for the delay in the July launch of the beta. We should have it available at the beginning of August 2016 with the scheduled release date of September 6th, 2016. If you would like to be a beta tester please feel free to email me.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Valued Customers,

It’s been a long road since I first came up with the StruCalc idea in 1991. I realized existing industry solutions were too much focused on the engineering and ignored the user experience. I always wanted to bring my vision of intuitive interfaces to the software world of engineering.

Since the beginning there has been ups and downs, booms and busts. StruCalc almost didn’t survive the 2008 recession but we managed to keep it going due to the loyalty of our customers over the years.

In 27 years, what I’ve realized, is that our industry is starving for new cutting edge technology for engineers, high quality assurance, 24/7 customer support, and a really strong focus on the end-to-end user experience with intuitive design StruCalc principles. It’s clear the market needs a really strong software development team to manage and stand behind it’s software, instead of industry alternatives;  engineering companies who service okay support and delivers what the industry accepts.

I’m happy to announce a new team of talented individuals at The Vitruvius Project, capable of delivering, what I believe, is the latest and greatest for next level engineering software. Our industry needs and deserves it. I have handed off the ownership of StruCalc to this amazing team. I will be staying on as a consultant to work with them and will help contribute my expertise and advice on the interface side portion of their projects.

I’m thrilled with this opportunity of being apart of this team, but even more, seeing what The Vitruvius Project is bringing to the table for the structural engineering and architect community.

All versions of the new platform include full calculations done with a new engine which the TVP engineers built from the ground up, including load combinations with complete loading capabilities. Their NEW features seem to be endless. The Vitruvius Project also has a great management team, they will deliver products the market has never seen before. It gives me great pride knowing the StruCalc user base will be in better hands with a better product. The future is bright for StruCalc users.

Please bear with them your patience, as they are transitioning the StruCalc user base and settings up their new systems. They will be releasing a much more comprehensive platform in Beta, in the coming weeks (July). The original plan for StruCalc 11.0 will be replaced with STRUCALC By Vitruvius. In addition, our StruCalc Plus version will be replaced with BASE by Vitruvius.

Be sure to visit their website thevitruviusproject.com for more information on the release of their new product, and also be sure to put in your request for Beta access. They are taking sign-up’s now.

Thank you for all the years of loyal support.
